The most successful automobile Marque in history over the last 6 1/5 decades has clearly been Porsche. The car that most people can identify with is the iconic little 356 Speedster which has made numerous appearances in feature films, such as Top Gun, 48 hours, Doc Holiday and Harper with Paul Newman. Celebrities like Steve McQueen and James Dean drove and raced Speedsters. Although only about 4500 were built from 1953 to 1958, 50% are accounted for. They started out as a sparse, cheap entry level Porsche but in recent years the values of Speedsters have led the way for the rest of the little Teutonic cars. This highly detailed Fjord green Speedster featured here was raced in its younger days, ultimately finding a new home and a caring owner. The car was restored back in 2013 and finished just in time to win a First in class at the prestigious Colorado Concours, coincidentally Porsche was the featured Marque. The original engine did not survive the glory of racing days, however it now has a stouter 100hp 356 SC engine, built by the Porsche Maestro himself, a later 741 gearbox and Koni shocks. This little performer has all the right upgrades, go’s and stops like it should and motors the car right down the road.
