1964 Porsche 356 C
Auction Estimate $75,000 – $95,000
An early matching number’s unrestored 1964 Porsche 356 C which retains its original pans, longitudinals, battery box, and much of its interior. This car remained in the original owner’s family for 51 years. “GraCie or 216464 as she is also known has lived an exciting life while being loved and used as Porsche intended; all the while being meticulously maintained and repaired as needed to preserve this beautiful automobile for over a half century. She started her life in Dec 11, 1963 (per the Certificate of Authenticity) and was delivered to her first owner on March 27, 1964 at Bill Spreen Porsche In Atlanta, GA. Total price including tax, tag, and title was $4,312.66 (per the original invoice which will be included with the car). This price included $312.70 worth of dealer installed options including a Bursch exhaust, which the car wears to this very day. The first owner used 216464 as a daily driver and was a fastidious record keeper (Want to know how much gas was pumped into the tank on July 31, 1964? 9.4 gallons, that’s how much). Of course these books will remain with the car. Circa 1970, the original owner’s son took possession of the car. The son continued to take loving care of the car while enjoying it thoroughly. During the mid-80’s the son made minor (and mostly reversible) modifications (as was required during that more lenient era) and started campaigning 216464 in vintage racing events such as the Walter Mitty at Road Atlanta, races at Sebring, and the St. Petersburg Grand Prix all the while it remained street legal. As time passed, GraCie traversed through several stages of life from a brand new pride and joy, daily driver, toy, racer, garage queen, family heirloom, and finally significant asset and investment opportunity, which has now brought her here to you today. Amazingly, 216464 with her rich history remains a very original car looking much as she did in March 1964 in her elegant Slate Gray Paint and Black Leatherette interior. And driving the way a preserved Porsche 356 C should.
The car comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity verifying that all numbers and colors are correct. Original dated coded chrome wheels. Original non-crested hub caps. Original factory owner’s manual & factory service book. The actual dealer invoice from the original purchase. The original tool bag & jack. Numerous log books and receipts.
Rarely will you find a sports car that has lived such an active and interesting life, yet remains as well preserved as “GraCie”. This is not your average 356C!Register To Bid On This Vehicle
