A little known fact about the Karmann Ghia is that it actually started out as a design exercise by Ghia for Chrysler. In the early 50’s, Volkswagen wanted Karmann to build them a sports car based on the VW platform and running gear. Volkswagen was unhappy with the original drawings, so Karmann, who happen to have a good relationship with Ghia, borrowed a design concept from one of their drawings and the Karmann Ghia was born The 1967 Karmann is probably one of the most desirable of the Ghias for the simple fact that is the 1st year for a 12V electrical system and still retains the early style small bumpers and taillights. This lovable little Ghia has been restored to a show finish. The exterior is finished in red with a new tan interior, faux wood grain dash, and tan cloth top. The Ghia rides on new white wall tires and chrome rims. The car has been completely gone through, the engine is fresh and the car presents itself as a nice stock looking car. This particular example is in immaculate condition and truly needs nothing.
